Spring/Fall Law Clerk Opportunity — 2027

The Civilian Board of Contract Appeals employs as law clerks a select few high-quality law students for unpaid internships during the spring and fall academic semesters. These law clerks assist Board Judges by conducting legal research, drafting legal memoranda, preparing analyses of facts, assisting in the preparation of orders and decisions, attending hearings and taking part in mediations.

Academic Credit

A Spring/Fall Clerk may receive academic credit for the internship, but it is not required by the Board. Students should check with their law school for information about receiving credit.

Schedule and Work Hours

Spring/Fall Law Clerks are required to work a minimum of 15 hours per week for not less than 12 weeks during the academic semester.

Qualifications

An application package must include the following:

  1. 1.Cover letter stating your reason for seeking a clerkship with the Board and your relevant academic and other qualifications;
  2. 2.Resume;
  3. 3.Law school transcript (need not be official but should include GPA); and
  4. 4.A legal writing sample no longer than 10 double-spaced pages.
